2024 Wenzao Cup National Speech Contest for High School Students

Teams from across the nation gathered on November 23 for the Wenzao Cup National English Speech Contest, where their hard work and skill were on full display. We are honored to recognize the four winners, whose exceptional dedication and performances truly shone.  Congratulations on their impressive achievements!

Yin Chi Yu, our champion from Sihu Senior High School, supervised by Yi Fen Lee, possesses a remarkable talent for weaving lively personal anecdotes into her speech, captivating the audience with her humor and vivacity.  Her confidence and extensive experience in competitions are unmistakably evident, demonstrated by her participation in three consecutive events this November!

Yu Shan Hsu (Jessie), a student from the German Department with a minor in English at Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages, captivated the judges with her flawless pronunciation.  As the champion of the Internal Wenzao Cup, Jessie anticipated the challenges she might face in the national round.  However, she was well-prepared, thanks to the meticulous guidance of Prof. Jia Huey Her, who provided comprehensive coaching in both script-writing and presentation skills.  This rigorous training ultimately led to her outstanding performance and earned her the title of First Runner-Up in the national round, showcasing her dedication, eloquence, and linguistic precision.

Wei Hsiang Lin, the Second Runner-Up and a student from Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages under the supervision of Prof. I Chen Huang, was described as a very powerful speaker by one of the judges.  He displays a distinctive personal style that effectively captivates and engages the audience. He attributes his success to a training approach rooted in following his interests, such as studying iPhone launch events for effective presentation techniques.

Jia Yuan Hsu, the Third Runner-Up from Jingwen High School and supervised by Prof. Kevin Duda, presents himself with poise and dignity, dressed neatly and embodying a formal, respectable manner.  His speech is deeply engaging, as he strives to connect with the audience by sharing his personal observations and concerns. Through his thoughtful delivery, Jia Yuan captures the attention of the listeners, demonstrating his ability to blend professionalism with a genuine, heartfelt approach.
