2024 Wenzao Cup National English Storytelling Contest for High School Students

On November 24, teams from across the country gathered for the Wenzao Cup National English Storytelling Contest.  We are proud to present the four winners, whose exceptional performance and dedication truly stand out. Congratulations on their remarkable achievements!

Chi En Hsu, Chien Hui Chen, and Chen Shuan Wang, the champions from Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages, mentored by Prof. Ji Chen Wang, recreate a time-travel adaptation of the story of Helen Keller with a solemn and moving touch.  They seamlessly integrate John’s narrative into the events of Keller’s life.  As he witnesses pivotal moments in Keller’s life, John undergoes a transformation, ultimately gaining a positive attitude and learning to embrace and enjoy his own life.

I Ning ChangChien, Hao Xiang Zhang, Hon Shu Gao, and Ying Zhen Zhong, the First Runner-Up from Fooyin University, supervised by Prof. Yu Chi Yang, adopt the tale of “Rapunzel” to amaze and amuse the audience.  In their creative reinterpretation, the long-haired princess, confined in a tower by the witch, is eventually rescued by her Prince Charming, and together they save the kingdom with a kiss of love!

Mi Chi Cheang, Hsiao Man Hsieh, and Pin Chieh Yang, the Second Runner-Up from Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages, guided by Prof. Stacy Liu, present an adaptation of “Little Red Riding Hood” that fascinates and entertains the audience by introducing an ingenious modern-day protagonist who outwits the Wolf with the aid of advanced technology!

Po Kai Tsao, Tzu Chi Li, Yi Jie Lin, and Yun An Tsai, the Third Runner-Up from Sihu Senior High School, under the supervision of Prof. Xin Hao Lin, retell an unconventional adaptation of “Cinderella,” brimming with vibrant energy and dramatic vocal performances.  Their “Baderella” captivates both the judges and the audience with a bold reinterpretation, transforming the familiar poor, suffering victim into a sly, cunning schemer driven by outrageous desires and deceit!
