Welcome Lunch for Four-Year College Freshmen Hosted by the English Department

On 15 Oct. 2025, the English Department hosted a welcome lunch for four-year college freshmen, who have been with the department for about a month, providing an opportunity to connect and get to know one another. During the event, Prof. Aiden Yeh, Head of the Department, and two academic advisors, Dr. Peggy Tsai and Mr. Andy Hu, encouraged freshmen to explore and develop their professional skills not only through academic study but also by participating in extracurricular activities. Special emphasis was placed on joining the English Student Association. As Mr. Hu remarked, “To serve is to succeed, and to succeed is to serve.”

The English Department also shared information relevant to new students, for example, how to apply scholarships, locate faculty contact details and research interests, and access information on exchange and internship programs. Students were warmly invited to stay connected and keep up with future events by following the English Department and the English Student Association on Facebook and Instagram.

The welcome party concluded with a lively Q&A session hosted by Prof. Yeh, followed by a photo session with faculty and staff members.

英文系於2025年10月15日舉辦日四技大學部迎新餐會，邀請加入系所約一個月的大一新生聚會分享校園生活與經驗。本系系主任葉佰賢教授與一年級兩位班級導師—胡志祥老師與蔡佩琪老師—皆鼓勵新生擴大學習範圍。學習不侷限在學科學習，還可以積極參與課外活動，以探索和發展各方面的專業技能。主任與兩位老師特別強調加入英文系系學會的重要性。正如胡老師所說：「服務即成功，成功即服務。」英文系也藉此聚會傳遞新生須知的資訊，例如，如何申請獎學金、如何查找教師聯絡方式及研究方向，以及如何取得交換和實習計畫的相關資訊。英文系並邀請新生關注英文系與英文系系學會的Facebook和Instagram，以便隨時掌握系上活動與訊息。迎新餐會在系主任主持的熱烈問答環節中圓滿結束，隨後學生各自與師長合影留念。
