Celebrating Excellence at the 2026 Wenzao Cup—National English Contests for Collegiate Students

On June 6, 2026, the English Department held its annual contests, featuring the Wenzao Cup National Poetry Reading Contest in the morning session and the Wenzao Cup National Impromptu Speech Contest in the afternoon session. In this one-day event, contestants from universities across Taiwan showcased their mastery of the English language, their shared love for poetry, and their public speaking prowess. In the morning session, each of the six groups selected one of the six designated poems, bringing it to life through their expressive verbal performance and unique personal interpretation. In the afternoon session, ten contestants tackled one of eight topics ranging from personal reflection to social issues, organizing their thoughts in just ten minutes to deliver an insightful three-minute speech. The fast-paced, unpredictable nature of the competition only added to the excitement. Ultimately, both contests concluded successfully thanks to a true community effort and the guidance of our distinguished panels of judges: Prof. Yih-Fan Chang from National Kaohsiung Normal University, Prof. Wei Yao Lee from Kaohsiung Medical University, and Prof. Ko, Ka Tat from National Sun Yat-sen University for the poetry session; alongside Prof. Shuping Huang from National Sun Yat-sen University, Prof. Yi-Hung Liao from National Pingtung University, and Prof. Iain Philip from National Chiayi University for the speech session. We also extend our warmest thanks to all the brilliant contestants, their dedicated supervisors, and the hardworking student staff from the English Department’s four-year college student association. Without everyone’s vibrant energy and devotion, this memorable day would not have been nearly as joyful!

英國語文系於2026年6月6日舉辦了年度英語競賽，上午場為「文藻盃全國英詩朗誦比賽」，下午場則為「文藻盃全國英語即席演講比賽」。在這為期一天的賽事中，來自全台各大專院校的參賽選手們，充分展現了他們學習英文的成果、對詩歌的熱愛與展現演說能力，在上午的賽程中，六個參賽隊伍各自從六首指定詩作中選取一首，透過朗誦表達獨特的詮釋，賦予詩作栩栩如生的生命。下午場的即席演講，十位參賽者挑戰了涵蓋個人反思到社會議題等八大主題之一。他們在短短十分鐘內組織思緒，濃縮並呈現出三分鐘的精彩演說。比賽過程的快節奏與不可預期性，更為賽事增添了緊張感。在眾人齊心協力的付出，以及專業評審團的悉心指導下，兩場比賽皆圓滿落幕。本屆特別感謝英詩朗誦組的傑出評審：國立高雄師範大學張逸帆教授、高雄醫學大學李為堯教授，以及國立中山大學盧家達教授；同時也誠摯感謝即席演講組的專業評審陣容：國立中山大學黃舒屏教授、國立屏東大學廖宜虹教授，以及國立嘉義大學戴培宇教授。我們向所有表現優異的選手、悉心指導的老師，還有英文系大學部系學會的工作團隊致上最溫暖的謝意。感謝每一位滿懷熱情的參與和付出，才讓這一天的賽事精彩且意義非凡！
