2026 Freshman Welcome Party

On September 3, the English Department held its 2026 Freshman Welcome Party in conjunction with the Freshman Orientation, warmly welcoming a new cohort of students to begin their university journey.

In her opening remarks, Chair Prof. Aiden Yeh encouraged freshmen to make the most of their four years at Wenzao by strengthening their English proficiency, exploring interdisciplinary learning opportunities, enhancing their global mobility and competitiveness, and preparing for their future careers through the knowledge and skills they will acquire in the English Department.

Dr. Laurie Lee, Deputy Chair of the Four-year College, introduced the curriculum and offered advice on course selection, encouraging freshmen to build a solid foundation of professional knowledge and language skills throughout their studies.

Representing the Four-Year College Student Association, Katiya, Olivia, Belle, and Lucas shared their personal experiences and “survival tips” for studying at Wenzao. They also introduced the Association's activities and highlighted the many opportunities available outside the classroom, inspiring freshmen to become active participants in campus life while building meaningful friendships.

The party concluded with an inspiring session led by Mr. Jelani Michael T. St. Clair, who encouraged freshmen to overcome their fear of speaking English, communicate with confidence, develop effective note-taking strategies, and use AI tools responsibly as learning partners to strengthen their language skills.

The English Department extends its heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of this year’s Freshman Welcome Party. Together, we have created a warm and supportive community for our freshmen. We look forward to an exciting, rewarding, and productive academic year with both our returning students and the Class of 2026!

英文系於2026年9月3日結合新生訓練舉辦 2026 新生歡迎會，熱情迎接新生加入文藻，展開嶄新的大學生涯。在開場致詞中，本系系主任葉佰賢教授(Prof. Aiden Ye)勉勵新生善用在文藻的四年時光，持續精進英語專業能力，積極探索跨領域學習機會，提升國際移動力與競爭力，並運用在英文系所習得的知識與技能，為未來職涯發展做好充分準備。大學部副主任李怡瑩(Dr. Laurie Lee)則介紹課程規劃，並提供選課建議，鼓勵新生循序漸進地培養紮實的專業知識與語言能力，為未來的學習奠定良好基礎。接著，大學部系學會代表盧思瑜(Katiya)、張珮禎(Olivia)、謝淑善(Belle)與阮成仁(Lucas)同學則分享自己在文藻的求學經驗與「生存攻略」，介紹學生會的各項活動，並說明課堂之外豐富多元的學習與成長機會，鼓勵新生積極參與校園生活，在拓展視野的同時建立珍貴的友誼。活動最後，由本系傑拉尼老師(Mr. Jelani Michael T. St. Clair)帶來精彩的分享。他鼓勵新生勇敢克服開口說英語的恐懼，以自信的態度與他人溝通，同時培養有效的筆記技巧，並善用AI工具作為學習夥伴，以提升英語能力與學習成效。英文系謹向所有參與籌辦與協助本次新生歡迎會的師長、同學及工作人員致上最誠摯的感謝。因為大家的共同努力，我們才能為新生打造一個溫馨、友善且充滿支持的學習環境。我們也期盼在新學年裡，與所有在校生及新生攜手同行，共同迎向充實、豐碩且精彩的一年！
